NRS are currently consulting on the Beyond 2011 programme and have planned a series of workshops next month to aid their research. The workshops will be held in Edinburgh on the 19th and 21st February, with morning and afternoon sessions on both days. To reserve a place simply contact the Beyond2011 team indicating which day and session you wish to attend.
More information regarding the event can be found on the Beyond2011 Events page.
Many of you will be aware that the next Census 2011 data release (Release 2.2) is imminent, with the release of Key Statistics (35 tables) and Quick Statistics (69 tables) for Output Area, ward, parish and parliamentary constituency geographies expected next week. A list of table names and numbers can be found here (.xls). The latest table layouts are available from the ONS website but be aware as these may change before next week’s release date.
Once the SASPAC team have quality assured the data and created System files these will be made available for download via the data page of our website. To support the new 2011 statistical geography an updated version of the software (v9.80) will also be available to members for download. Followers will be notified as soon as software and the data is available via our blog.
The first ONS Census newsletter of 2013 was published earlier today. This edition reports on December’s release of the second set of 2011 Census results and incorporates details of the upcoming January/February outputs. Included in this edition is the following:
• Details of data tables to be released on 30 January and 19 February;
• January release of additional Census geography products (boundaries/lookups);
• Bulk data release and distribution of associated supporting information;
• Survey for Local Authorities regarding the benefits gained from Census data;
• ONS Census advisory groups and details of meetings;
• Links to useful census websites
The Quality Assurance Datapack, included in the initial release of 2011 Census data on 16th July 2012, provided overall response rates for local authorities in England & Wales. That data is now supplemented by a more detailed breakdown of response rates by characteristics including age, gender, ethnic group, marital status, country of birth and tenure.
The data can be downloaded, along with methodological papers and a report on response rates, from the ONS website.
A Happy New year to all SASPAC users and blog followers.
An exciting year of 2011 Census data releases is ahead of us and has already begun with the (delayed) release of Quick Statistics Table QS209EW by ONS yesterday. The table supplements the data for 18 ethnic groups previously released in KS201EW on 11 December and includes details for 91 ethnic groups. In addition, ONS have also provided a commissioned table (CT0010EW) that includes details of the ‘write-in’ responses for the ethnic group question.
Due to the table definition for QS209EW changing from that previously specified by ONS, users interested in accessing this table will need to update a small number of files in v9.75 – please contact the helpdesk for details. SASPAC System files including this table are available to download.
If you are happy to wait, this table will be incorporated as part of the next software release in early February.
